NEWCASTLE — The Lady Racers jumped on Cushing with a five-run first inning and never looked back Thursday, rolling to a 6–0 home win to keep pace in the 4A-1 race (now 8–1 in district with Harrah up next).
Baylee Tate’s two-run double set the tone in the opening frame, followed by RBI singles from Lilly Taliaferro and Avery Patrick, and a Bella Hearon sacrifice fly. In the second, Bubba Torrenueva punched a single to right to make it 6–0.
Adie Loman worked six scoreless innings (5 H, 1 BB, 3 K), and Madi Folds finished a clean seventh—ending it on a flyout from Matti Terrell—as the pair teamed for the shutout. Newcastle stacked 13 hits, turned a double play, and controlled the tempo throughout.
