Seven Straight: Newcastle Rolls at Purcell, 7–2, Behind Five-Run Third

PURCELL — On a rare Wednesday district date, Newcastle stacked a five-run third inning and never looked back, beating Purcell 7–2 to run the Lady Racers’ win streak to seven and keep pressure on the top of Class 4A-1.

Newcastle (15–5, 5–1) broke it open in the top of the third with five consecutive run-scoring knocks: Baylee Tate banged an RBI double down the left-field line, Kaydence Rogers rolled an RBI single to left, Adie Loman split center with an RBI double, Reece Fixico shot an RBI double to right, and Avery Patrick finished the flurry with an RBI single to left for a 5–0 cushion.

Loman did the rest in the circle, scattering three hits over a complete game while working out of the few jams Purcell (6–13, 3–4) could muster. Ava Sparks went the distance for the Lady Dragons, limiting further damage after the third but absorbing the loss.
