MARLOW — Washington paired a 10-run first inning with a 10-strikeout complete game from Payton Blackburn to defeat the Marlow Lady Outlaws, 16–1, in five innings on Tuesday.
Ava Salcedo set the tone immediately. The sophomore opened the scoring with an RBI triple, then later capped the frame with a three-run homer to right. Between those two swings, Washington stacked quality at-bats: Julie Hoehner punched an RBI single, Kinzlee Pogue roped an RBI double, Daphne Palumbo launched a three-run shot to center, and Emersyn Massey added an RBI double as the Lady Warriors sent the order around and blew it open, 10–0.
Washington kept adding on. In the third, Hoehner turned on a pitch and lifted a three-run homer to left. In the fifth, Pogue answered with a three-run blast to center to put the run rule in effect at 16–1.
Blackburn handled the rest. The right-hander struck out 10 and didn’t issue a walk, scattering three hits and yielding only an unearned run across five efficient innings. Marlow’s knocks came from Lakyn Foss, Kate Doughty, and Addyson Mayes.
