“No Love Lost” — A Friday Night Rematch Rooted in Fire

It’s been circled for a year.

A game that ended in overtime heartbreak for Sulphur. A game that kept Washington’s dynasty alive. A game that sparked one of the best early-season rivalries in Oklahoma high school football.

Now? We do it all over again — this time at Calvin Agee Memorial Field.

⚔️ The Flashback: September 6, 2024

Last year’s clash was a low-scoring war that broke open late:

  • Final Score: Washington 27, Sulphur 24 (2OT)
  • Over 120 combined plays
  • 18 total penalties (9 each)
  • Freshman QB Creed Barrett threw for 428 yards and 3 touchdowns
  • Sulphur scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime

In double overtime, Sulphur took a brief lead with a long field goal by Colten Cole, capitalizing after a penalty stalled their drive.

Washington answered immediately.

On the final play, Barrett fired a 10-yard touchdown pass to tight end Nate Roberts in the corner of the end zone — sealing the 27–24 walk-off win.

🟡 Washington Warriors (1–0, #1 in 2A-I)

  • Three-time state champions
    • 2022 & 2023: Class 2A
    • 2024: Inaugural 2A-I state champions
  • 45-game win streak
  • Head Coach: Brad Beller
📸 Creed Barrett gets dialed in before the second half
The sophomore quarterback warms up on the sideline under the lights ahead of a dominant second-half performance in Washington’s Week 0 win over Community Christian.

Sophomore quarterback Creed Barrett returns after a historic freshman campaign:

3,315 yards, 38 TDs, just 2 INTs in 2024

Josiah Dickerson takes over as the featured back behind a veteran offensive line that returns all five starters.

Case Alexander, a D-I prospect, is a two-way difference-maker who plays downhill with power and instinct at linebacker and defensive end.

🔴 Sulphur Bulldogs (0–0, #4 in 3A)

  • 12–2 record in 2024
  • 3A state runner-up
  • Head Coach: Corey Cole

Kale Brakefield, a former Washington player, starts at quarterback after seeing key defensive snaps during last year’s title run. He now leads Sulphur’s offense.

Sulphur standout Maddax Mobly, a Navy commit, gets airborne during pregame warmups last season. Mobly’s dynamic presence on both sides of the ball has made him one of Class 3A’s most feared athletes.

Maddax Mobly, a Navy football commit, returns after a monster 2024 season with over 1,600 total yards and 29 touchdowns. He’ll be used all over — in the backfield, out wide, and in motion.

Colten Cole, a Rice commit, loosens up during warmups ahead of last year’s Class 3A State Championship. Though he was tossing passes pregame, the senior is a physical tight end and key leader for a Sulphur squad aiming to finish the job in 2025.

Colten Cole, a Rice commit and Division I tight end prospect, has been a cornerstone of the program for four years. A former two-year starter at quarterback, Cole moved back to tight end in 2024, where he’s become one of the most dangerous pass-catchers in 3A.

Jojo Gray brings size to the backfield.
Bridge Barrett leads a defensive unit that recorded 8 interceptions in 2024.
