Salcedo’s Bat, Blackburn’s Arm Lead Washington to 8–0 Rout of Kingfisher

WASHINGTON — Powered by Ava Salcedo’s two home runs and a five-run first inning, Washington rolled past Kingfisher 8–0 on Tuesday night in five innings.

Washington set the tone immediately in the bottom of the first. Kinzlee Pogue shot an RBI single to open the scoring, Daphne Palumbo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run, and Hadley Beard cleared the bases moments later with a ringing double to center for three RBIs and a 5–0 cushion.

Salcedo took over from there. In the second, she crushed a two-run homer to center to make it 7–0, then returned in the fourth with a solo blast to straightaway center to cap the scoring at 8–0. Salcedo finished with two homers and three RBIs.

In the circle, Payton Blackburn was in full command. The right-hander fired 5.0 shutout innings of one-hit ball, striking out six without a walk to earn the win.

Washington stacked quality at-bats throughout the lineup. Salcedo, Pogue, and Emersyn Massey each logged two hits, while Beard’s bases-clearing double highlighted the opening frame.

Kingfisher managed one hit on the night—Addison Johnson went 1-for-2 to lead the Lady Yellowjackets.
