TUTTLE — A year after escaping The Rock in Guthrie with a tight 31–24 season opener, Tuttle left no doubt this time around. With a balanced offensive attack, special-teams fireworks, and stellar execution all night, the Tigers ran away with a 38–13 win over the Bluejays at home.
First Quarter
Tuttle got on the board early with a 21-yard field goal from Diego Olivares to cap their opening drive. Later in the frame, Shaun Rounsaville powered in his first rushing touchdown of the night, and the PAT extended the lead to 10–0.
Second Quarter
Guthrie answered when quarterback Daelon Rice kept the ball on a short run to the end zone, trimming the lead to 10–6 after the extra point try was missed. But the Tigers responded quickly as Cruz Campbell connected deep with Tyson Kennedy for a 50-yard touchdown strike, pushing the advantage to 17–6 at halftime.
Third Quarter
Momentum swung permanently in Tuttle’s favor when Major Vanderberg took the opening kickoff of the second half 86 yards for a touchdown. The Tigers kept piling on when Rounsaville found the end zone again on a short run, stretching the margin to 31–6 heading into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Rounsaville capped his dominant night with his third rushing touchdown, making it 38–6. Guthrie’s Amare Watson added a late score for the Bluejays, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Tigers closed out the 38–13 statement win.
By the Numbers
Shaun Rounsaville: 92 yards rushing, 3 touchdowns Cruz Campbell: 22-of-31 passing, 266 yards, 1 touchdown Tyson Kennedy: 7 receptions, 146 yards, 1 touchdown Jordan Lane: 6 receptions, 61 yards Major Vanderberg: 86-yard kickoff return touchdown
Tuttle finished with 366 total yards of offense (100 rushing, 266 passing) and did not commit a turnover.
The performance marked a sharp contrast from last year’s season opener at The Rock in Guthrie, where the Tigers had to grind out a 31–24 victory. This time, Tuttle imposed its will early and never let the Bluejays find a foothold.
