Lady Bulldogs Drop Two Games at Devon Park Fall Festival

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Wayne Lady Bulldogs opened their Devon Park Fall Festival with two tough losses on Wednesday, falling 7-1 to Okemah and 14-0 to Warner in Oklahoma City at Devon Park.

Wayne struggled early against Okemah, allowing five runs in the second inning. The Lady Panthers got on the board in the first after Maggie Johnston grounded out and scored on a passed ball. Okemah then broke the game open in the second inning, scoring five runs on just two hits. Callie Coon led the rally with a single that scored two runs, Kallie Gaxiola drew a walk to bring in one, and Jaci Galindo added a single that plated two more.

Wayne’s pitching duo kept the Lady Bulldogs in the game. Starter Natalie Knobloch allowed three hits and seven runs (one earned) over 1.2 innings, striking out three and walking three, while Maddie Moreno relieved and tossed 3.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and just one walk. Offensively, Moreno and Knobloch each notched one hit back-to-back, with Moreno driving in Wayne’s lone run in the bottom of the inning.

Wayne’s second game of the day proved even more challenging against Warner. The Lady Eagles jumped on Wayne early, scoring in the first inning on a Tallon Ashmore triple. Warner extended the lead in the third with a seven-run inning highlighted by Ella LaBounty’s three-run homer, plus key walks from Addison Upton and Addy Whitley. The Lady Eagles added five more runs in the fourth, including three on an error, putting the game out of reach.

Wayne starter Maddie Moreno gave way to Addison Clagg but the Lady Bulldogs could not slow Warner’s offense, which tallied 11 hits. Ashmore went 3-for-3, while Kiya Briley drove in three runs. Warner’s pitching was strong throughout, with LaBounty tossing three scoreless innings with six strikeouts and Addy Whitley closing with one scoreless inning.
