PURCELL — The Leopardettes opened their season on the road Monday night and leaned on the arm of Arizona State commit Riese Flood to shut down the Purcell Lady Dragons, 2–0.
Flood was dominant in the circle, striking out 12 while allowing just one hit and two walks across five scoreless innings. The right-hander recorded all but two of her outs via strikeout and set the tone early with a heavy mix of heat and movement.
Lindsay broke through in the top of the fourth when Nacobi Miller tagged up to score on a sac fly. Addi Dodson added insurance in the sixth, driving in her second run of the night to make it 2–0. Dodson finished 1-for-3, while Brooklyn Brown, Miller, and Breckynn Cline each chipped in a hit.
Ava Sparks kept Purcell in the game with a strong outing of her own, going 5.2 innings while scattering four hits and striking out six. Mackenzie McKay recorded the Lady Dragons’ lone hit, and the defense turned two double plays to stall Lindsay threats.
The game was called in the bottom of the sixth after lightning moved into the area.
